Poet’s Notes: This simple acrostic poem is an ode to one of my favorite foods, Biryani. An iconic part of Indian cuisine, Biryani is a dish that my mother frequently prepares on Fridays, a special day for Muslims. Coming home after school to the spicy aroma of biryani elicits a nostalgic feeling that cannot be replicated.
