i cup my hands,

and look deeply

into the grooves of my palms.

i am entranced

by the mazes

they create.

my palms

carry my wishes,

my hopes,

my dreams.

my palms

carry my duas.

Poet’s Notes: I am a Muslim. In Islam, after prayer is concluded, Muslims sit, cup their hands, and make “duas” or wishes/requests to God (Allah). Here, I am describing the importance of these duas and how I hope my wishes and dreams come true.
